  • Amiedu commits itself to promoting the energy efficiency of new and renovation construction by productising, at least, two new service products per year. The Ami Foundation commits itself to investing in energy efficiency in the construction and maintenance of its own premises, so that by 2020, the consumption of purchased energy will fall by 20 %, compared to 2010. Amiedu’s premises are located in places that favour public transportation, along rail lines.
  • The Ami Foundation will invest in the learning environments and production of clean energy. In accordance with this objective, Amiedu has and will continue to invest in, for example, solar panels that are connected to the normal power grids of its premises.
  • Through active training, Amiedu commits itself to improving the indoor air quality of premises in the Helsinki region. In its own premises, the Ami Foundation commits itself to improving the quality of indoor air with the help of monitoring measurements of critical spaces and required corrective measures, while also developing energy efficiency.

Bring Express Oy

  • We will reduce exhaust gas emissions by training 75 % of our drivers in an economical way of driving. This is a long-term goal that must be achieved in 2015. This year, the emphasis lies on new drivers (90 %).
  • From 24 September 2012 onwards, every Bring Express car will have a system that produces real-time location information and reports on fuel consumption, kilometres driven, and driving behaviour.
  • We will increase the environmental awareness of our staff by having all our employees acquire the environmental driving licence. We will evaluate our largest subcontractors and cooperation partners and perform spot checks on five single-car companies. The aim is to evaluate the environmental awareness of the drivers and to carry out discussions in order to improve the results.

Bukowskis Market

  • The Finnish Meteorological Institute produces up-to-date and reliable research data on climate change to comprehensively support various societal operators in their decision-making.
  • The Finnish Meteorological Institute is also committed to reducing the environmental impact and slowing down climate change in its own operations. We carry out an environmental plan and train our personnel in environmental matters.

Gaia Consulting

  • Gaia is more than environmentally neutral: we are environmentally positive. We will compensate for our emissions by 200 % starting in 2012, which means that we will have a positive effect on the environment.
  • Gaia will reduce its emissions through environmental projects that also help developing countries to prepare for the challenges brought on by climate change.

Gasum

  • The service vans and other company cars driven by the staff of Gasum will run on Finnish carbon dioxide neutral biogas starting in December 2012.
  • Together with its partners, Gasum will promote the opportunities to utilise renewable biogas in energy production and public transport in the Helsinki metropolitan region. In energy production, one solution being studied with Helsingin Energia and MetsäFibre is the production of wood-based biogas. For transportation, biogas is available, among others, from the Suomenoja wastewater treatment plant, where the cooperation partner is HSY.
  • Gasum will promote the possibilities to utilise cleaner fuel in seafaring (liquefied natural gas, LNG) in the Gulf of Finland. LNG will reduce sulphur and particulate emissions significantly.
  • Gasum will ensure the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and development of the gas distribution network that serves households in the Helsinki city region, among others.

Green Net Finland

  • We will promote energy efficiency in the Helsinki metropolitan area through our national and international projects.
  • We will pay attention to reducing the carbon footprint of our own operations.
  • We will help cleantech companies to develop clean technologies, increase their environmental business and implement and import the newest innovations in the field.

ISS-palvelut Oy

  • We commit and encourage our personnel to carry out everyday environmental acts by increasing their environmental expertise and awareness with the help of environmental training courses and themed days. Our entire personnel have access to an online environmental training course, which introduces employees to both general environmental issues and the central environmental impacts of our operations, as well as our means to influence them. We monitor the number of employees who have completed the online environmental training course.
  • We help our customers manage and reduce the energy consumption of their premises with the help of our ISS wise service.

Finland’s Environmental Administration (SYKE)

  • Through its certified (ISO 14 0001) environment management system, SYKE is committed to continuously improving the level of environmental protection in its operations. Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced particularly through reducing the use of materials, the amount of waste, and energy consumption, and eliminating the need to travel by using video conferences. Environmentally friendly solutions are favoured in acquisitions.
  • SYKE supports and promotes working from home, which reduces the CO2 emissions from the daily commute.
  • Through its research and development work, SYKE will produce tools and information materials to various actors in society for controlling climate change.
  • SYKE will organise a Carbon neutral municipalities (HINKU) forum for trendsetters, in order to create new solutions and good practices for the prevention of climate change. All organisations, districts, and companies in the Helsinki area that aim to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 80 % by 2030, are welcome, as stipulated by the HINKU management team.

Tallink Silja Oy

  • Tallink Silja’s objective is to reduce the fuel consumption of ships on the Helsinki-Stockholm route by one percent a year, based on current summer and winters schedules and winters with normal amounts of ice.
  • Tallink Silja’s objective is to reduce the amount of waste produced per passenger on ships on the Helsinki-Stockholm route by 2 % by 2015.
  • Tallink Silja commits itself to reducing the paper waste produced at its main office by 5 % per year, based on the main office’s number of employees, which is approximately 230.

The Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY)

  • The monitoring and reduction of food waste in the operating budget with the help of a reduction plan. The Student Union’s operating budget is funded by the student union’s member fees and the profit distribution of the HYY Group. The operating budget includes, for example, the New Student House and the premises operated by HYY at Domus Gaudium.
  • Reduction of the operating budget’s electricity consumption by 5 % by 2015 and 15 % by 2020, compared to 2012. A reduction plan will be drawn up for the reduction of electricity consumption levels.

UFF

  • The annual amount of products (kg per year) recycled for reuse through the UFF environmental service is on the rise.
  • The association’s environmental programme aims to reduce the relative share of fossil fuels used per recycled kg and increase the relative share of renewable energy sources. This development will be monitored with the help of resource planning systems. In 2014, UFF will have certified quality, environmental, workplace health and safety management systems.

Yleisradio Oy (Yle)

  • Reducing electricity consumption in the Yle Centre in Pasila by at least 15 % by 2016.
  • Increasing the percentage of hybrid cars or other low-emission cars in the car pool of the company to at least 20 % by 2016.
  • Reducing the amount of mixed waste to less than      10 % of the total amount of waste by 2016.
